Version 1.0.0.4

Update here

Setup here

Fixes parameter not valid error

Added location of app config

Walkthrough to change database location:

Open app.config folder through the settings flyout

open file with notepad

<connectionStrings>
<add name=”MyDbContext” connectionString=”Server=(LocalDB)\MSSQLLocalDB; Integrated Security=True; AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Pornganizer\mydbcontext.mdf; Connection Timeout = 30″ providerName=”System.Data.SqlClient” />
</connectionStrings>

replace AttachDBFilename=|DataDirectory|Pornganizer\mydbcontext.mdf

with AttachDBFilename=c:\whateveryouwant\mydbcontext.mdf

Save.  If you are on windows 8, you have to jump through some silly hoops. Chances are you get access denied trying to save.  Save a copy of the config file to your documents folder (or anywhere else).  Navigate to “program files\pornganizer”, delete/rename the existing pornganizer.exe.config, and now copy the file from your documents into the folder.

  1. Got it working. Needed to be an administrator… Not just running it as administrator within a non administrator account. Great product.

  2. Agree with your comments about splash screen but I figured that may be the location of the login. With regards to the portability, if i install it, I now have an application that can be seen from other family users that says “porn”. Currently it is visible in the control panel as an application regardless of where one moves it. It would be better if the name was just “PG” until it can be installed on attached drive with zero footprint on the C drive (no visibility to other users, not showing up in control panel).
    Sorry, I did not mean to imply that this was for stolen porn, I just meant that people might be more likely to install an app called PG than an app with the word porn in it. Website name is fine.

    1. Copy the folder and uninstall it. Then there should be no traces. Going forward I can provide a zip file with all the required files and links to install the prerequisites manually.

  3. Hey, either way, keep up the great work. I would like to make one suggestion about the product…. I would take the word “porn” out of the name of the application especially if the application is not portable (not requireing appdata folders on the C drive. You will limit your market to those who CAN have a porn app on their computer (which is the vast minority of those who watch porn). Similarly the splash screen can have sex appeal without being overtly revealing… Something like a satin red ribbon on a black beveled background might do the trick. Lastly, please consider allowing the user to have a local login. This might keep prying eyes at bay. Better support for external drives (virtual containers etc.) is key when talking about porn. Windows 10 is going to the default in the consumer space in the next few months given the free upgrade from win7.
    Keep in mind that when iTunes/iPod first came out it would have been a failure if it was called “StolenDownloadedMusicOrganizer” which was essentially its first use case.

    1. The app is portable. The installer is there to install .net 4.5.2 and SQL local express. You can put and run the folder from wherever as long as those are properly installed, and you can move the database wherever you like as long as you are comfortable enough editing the config file to point at the new path.

      I don’t understand the environment you are in where you can launch a porn viewer but be worried about the splash screen. I’ve gotten requests for login before, and I’ll think about it. I don’t have any fancy drive setup myself so it’s very difficult to test against. You can use this app for legitimate downloads as much as illegitimate.

  4. Just tried with a regular external drive and it also does not work.
    FYI when you move the DB files back to the roaming folder and the application is able to launch again, the DB files location in the settings of the application does not reflect the location listed in the config file.

  5. I copied the db files from the appdata/roaming folder into the target folder on the external drive and now when the application launches, the splash screen comes up and all of the items get a green check mark but then it disappears and the application does not load.
