  1. Hey man just installed PGV3 and am trying to setup the Google API Keys, when i go to https://console.cloud.google.com/home/dashboard?project=pornganizer-1246 I get error You don’t have permissions to perform the action on the selected resource. what am I doing wrong here. Setup database, but have yet to really see what this program can do. I feel like I have done everything right so far, but can’t get past this. Any help? Will gladly donate once I get see what this can actually do for me. Thanks.

  2. Nice work! Unfortunately I’m having an issue when I try to edit the details of certain scenes, the app will suddenly crash. Is there a fix?

      1. I figured it out. The it’s because the clips were under a second in length and the file explorer reads it as 00:00:00, This must be causing the error.

  3. I have already indexed about 80% of my files. I will be getting a new hard drive and moving my collection there. How would the DB handle the moved files? Will I have to reindex names that don’t auto tag?

        1. no super simple way to do this

the “simplest” would be to leave your folder structures alone , copy everything to the new singular drive, and then update the drive letter in all of the path fields in the database with a batch sql update statement

  4. Hi

I just discovered this app and I wanted to try it. Unfortunately, I can’t get it to start. I tried an older version aswell, but with no luck. When I start the exe, it gives me “the program has stopped working” error. Any ideea how can I start it?
I am using win7, and I tried running as an admin aswell

    Thank you

    1. it tries to find a folder that PG already knows about that matches one of the tags of the scene.

So if you had a folder called “Crystal Rae”, and the scene was tagged with her, then it would move it to the folder.

      i won’t say its 100% reliable.

  5. Hi! First of all, excellent work!!!!

I have some Ideas: I am struggling with multiple scenes tagging, it is possible if a toggle to a persistent “detail” window could be added? This way one could tag faster and skip faster those already-tagged scenes (without using the “uncategorized” toggle, wich is interesting, but slower in those cases when you are tagging a lot of scenes or when you just start tag all of your videos).
Maybe some “quick tag” menu in the top (that could be hided), showing the existing tags in the scene and quickly allowing to add more. Or some way to batch tag will be awesome.
Also, idk if its a bug or not, but when you have an folder selected in the search filters, in order to switch to another, its currently mandatory to clear the previous folder name. Could this be automatic? In the same matter, it would be great if the folder filter could have a tree structure (similar to the one in the “folders” tab), perhaps with an option to include the files found in the subfolders?

Thanks for reading and thanks again for your work! I will be posting more feedback in the future!

    1. I think a list view could help achieve the same thing. A view where you can see (and possibly edit) tags before clicking or hovering over a scene. I know there have been instances where I would prefer looking through a list instead of big thumbnails.

  6. I’ve been unable to test this thoroughly, but it appears that deleting more than one scene at once from the DVD detail view crashes PGV3. Deleting just one scene works properly.

  7. Is there a way to batch remove tags from any number of selected scenes/dvds/whatever? Having to remove tags individually after the autotagger makes mistakes is very cumbersome. It would have been handy if, say, the existing Tag menu displayed all tags in the selected items when it is first brought up, instead of merely showing what you have just added. That way you could simply remove the unwanted tags from there.

If this feature already exists, then I’m all ears.

  8. Bug: Renaming a scene fails silently (leaving the old name) if another scene with the same name exists somewhere in your database, regardless of physical location.

    Like

    1. Another renaming issue, a bit more serious one this time: If you attempt to rename a scene that is already open in another application (typically your video player), PGV3 crashes. I would assume this also requires that you’ve enabled the option to rename files when you rename a scene. PGV3 should probably check for access permission to a file before attempting to write to it, and be ready to deal with the consequences if the operation fails.

        1. No problem. I just want to help.

Found another related bug. If you rename a scene (with the rename file option turned on), using invalid characters will make PGV3 crash. A common example would be using a colon in a scene title, which is a pretty common occurrence.

  9. What about adding a checkbox which can be used to disable the graphics effect, for example the movement of the cards on adding a new. It has huge CPU usage, and makes everything in pornganizer slow.
Also it isn’t recognise mpeg, and jpeg extensions.

  10. Quick bug report: It’s possible to add blank links to stars (and possibly other places too, though I haven’t checked). Once you do the GUI won’t let you delete them, forcing you to edit the database manually.

Also, quality of life improvement: If you’ve got an input dialog (ie. a dialog box where you type in some data such as a name) active, pressing Esc should close that dialog without affecting what happens behind it. Right now you might be on a star’s Details screen, accidentally click the plus sign to add some field, hit Esc by reflex to back out, only to find that the dialog box stays open while you just left the Details screen in the background.

  11. I don’t know what i am doing wrong with adding “Categories” to a “Star”, f.E. add the category brunette, teen or euro pornstar to a star. If i add it and activate the stars section, go to category, activate brunette it doesn’t match anything. It works until i shutdown PG and restart it, everything is gone again. When i filter it in the Themes section it works even after restart. Please can somebody help and thanks in advance.

      1. Don’t bother yourself answering snippy fella. It’s not about some main or sub-category, but rather does the Categories Function in the Stars Section not work at all.

  12. Firstly thanks for the great effort and this amazin project!

Would it be possible to add a “sexual orientation” or a root category to differentiate between e.g. het, gay, bi, lesbian?

I also noticed a strange bug: dropping a file into the category/theme view adds the file/scene on that level, i.e. a scene appears as a category.

    Like

    1. It’s not a bad idea, but “sexual orientation” might not be the best wording for it since these people are, after all, actors. How would we know who’s “gay for pay” (ugh, I hate that phrase) and who’s really attracted to whomever they’re in a scene with? Perhaps something like being able to select which genders they’ll work with is a better option? At least that info is readily available for almost all porn stars.

      Like

      1. I had actually meant this as a master category for the scenes/dvds, bot for the actors. My dorm’s server has a shitload of porn of any variety, so it would be great if we could first put it into a course master category (straight, bi, gay, lesbian) and then use the categories as intented to refine the scene/dvd contents.

Optimally this could then be used for organizing the files, e.g. like:
        + Straight
        | +– A…
        | +– C…
        + Bi
        | + …
        | + …
        + Gay
        | …
        + Lesbian

Leaving the morality issues out of it, I’m sure you can see how that could and would go wrong. Including the morality issues: Software piracy is wrong, and you should be ashamed of yourself for even suggesting it. You’ll find that there are probably several people in this place, me included, who earn their living from creating and selling computer software. How do you think your “just a suggestion” looks to us?

  15. For me, “use current video frame as thumbnail” won’t work.
    Any idea why?
I did download the .ddl thingy, PG doesn’t mark it as missing anymore.

    Like

    1. for that feature to work, the embedded player needs to be able to play the scene. is that working?
otherwise, make sure you have the correct version of the dll, it was recently updated. you can just delete it, then restart PG to get the updated download link.

      Like

      1. The embedded player does work perfectly. Deleted the .dll, just started again: Won’t work. Dunno what to do now.
Might be placing the .exe and .dll in “C:\Program Files (x86)\…” be a problem?

Side note: If I start PG as Admin, it won’t show any thumbnails at all. Restarting it without admin just shows my custom thumbnails for categories etc again.

I know the category and scene thumb are different things, just wanted to mention this.

        Like

        1. FYI: Like I assumed, starting Pornganizer from your x86 directory messes the whole thing up.
I moved PG and now the thumbnails behave properly (switching thumbs on mouse hover, creating a custom thumbnail from current frame, too)

  16. All right, now that I’ve had some time to dive into the actual latest version of PGV, I’ve jotted down a selection of bugs and feature requests of varying importance (mostly just minor). I’ve also tossed a couple of dollars your way on Patreon, for this application certainly seems worth it. Here are my notes, for what they’re worth:

    – Uppercase file extension on pictures makes them unreadable.
    – JPG files are not read if the extension is .jpeg.
    – Long dates (in the star bio) should not be localized.
    – Once you choose an End Year, you can no longer return the star to active status.
    – South Korea and Latvia missing as nationalities, and probably a bunch others. These two have already been needed for my collection.
    – Needs support for start and end dates earlier than 1990 for vintage stars.
    – While you can use themes for this, it would probably be better to have a specific tag for fake vs real breasts in addition to the existing breast size selector. This allows it to automatically become a part of the bio, and it strikes me as something everyone would want as standard input anyway.
    – Please let us mark tags that we do NOT want to be handled with automatic tagging, ideally already at the moment when we create them in the first place (the Organized mark isn’t adequate for this). Right now it’s a nightmare to add titles or aliases that are generic or short without having them automatically added to pretty much everything that contains that generic text. This is especially problematic when it comes to actor names. Fun exercise: Try adding the porn star Jo to your collection and see what happens. 😉 If I’m missing some existing feature here, I’d love to hear about it.
    – Should DVDs with a specific theme show up when you browse that theme? Right now only scenes are shown, but it seems like DVDs, and maybe even stars, would be natural additions. Or perhaps we could toggle between these types with a button while browsing the theme? I know we can filter by theme in the star and DVD lists, but I’m all about convenience.

    Thanks!

    1. hey. thanks for the great feedback. i’ll add this stuff to my ever growing list.

you can add countries directly to the database, this is the best way to get South Korea and Latvia in there. use SQLite Browser to add the entries to the Countries table.

if you mark a scene as organized, it will stop being affected by the auto-tagger. but i like the idea that marking a star as organized could also prevent that star from being applied as an automatic tag.

i’ll add the dvd search by themes. themes was a late addition and needed to be added everywhere, clearly i missed a few spots.

      Like

      1. So there’s no risk that I’ll introduce some kind of conflict with upcoming patches by adding countries directly to the database? This kind of thing is part of my day job, which means I’m always a little hesitant to dive into the machinery behind the scenes.

I’m not sure if keeping a star out of auto tagging if she’s marked as organized is the best way to handle this. I mean, you still want that star to be applied to new videos you add later. What I was hoping for was some way to mark the tags themselves as unavailable for auto tagging. This way I can add short, generic aliases without having to fear that tens of scenes will get accidentally added to that star, all without having to interfere with how the organized mark was already meant to work. I’m visualizing something like adding a checkbox (which is checked by default) to the little dialog box where you create new tags, which switches between enabling and disabling the auto tagger for that particular tag.

          1. Speaking of database entries, there’s one thing I expected to find in the database that I don’t (which means I might just have missed it). Considering there’s a “clean scene names on import” setting that removes certain keywords from names, it would have been nice if these keywords were editable through the database (and the GUI too at some point). Right now I’m struggling with some scenes and DVDs having their names mutilated by this system, even after I’ve set them to Organized. Specifically, the setting is removing any instance of “HD” in the title even if it’s just part of a regular word, or in this case, a kind of serial number which requires that those letters remain. If these keywords were editable this wouldn’t really be a problem as I could just remove the problematic ones.

    1. good themes:

      public
      pigtails
      interracial

      good categories:

      blowjob
      reverse cowgirl
      anal

there are a couple differences: categories can have bookmarks, which are timestamps within a scene. you can apply themes to stars, and those themes will be auto applied to their scenes.

      1. It would be awesome if you concider adding an additional field for categories on at the Star, too. This would enable a lot of more automatic tagging.
        Think about it!

        Like

        1. Oh and another request: Can you add the possibility to organize the movies by themes, too? As of right now, it seems that you can only choose between Star, Website, and Category. This and the thing above would make this program really awesome for my specific needs.
This might be very specific and I don’t know how hard it is to implement this, so I thought I might just humbly ask you.

            1. Maybe you can add categories anyways, because people like me, even when just a few, use categories and themes different than you. I might use them wrong, but for my current definition of categories that just would be awesome.
No one would have to use it anyways, but it would be an option. And options are good, or?

              Like

              1. oh and the organization by theme thingy: I mean in the settings you can set Root Organization Folder and “Organize by…” where you can choose between Category, Star, Website. But not theme. I thought PG would move my files on the disk in the correct folders, which would be awesome. But only if it goes by themes.
                thx 4 your attention.

                Like

                1. That’s true. I just thought, if I can add a category to a Star, PG would automatically add this to a video that would be tagged with the star.
If needed, I could add a timestamp later at in the videos details.
Still think this would be cool, understand if you don’t.

                  Keep on rocking.

  17. Minor bug: If a file’s extension is in uppercase, the application seems unable to recognize it. This goes for both videos and pictures.

    Like

    1. Also: Two files with the same filename are always considered to be the same file, regardless of any other metadata or location. This can be a big problem for sites that use the same title for pretty much everything. PGV3 quietly ignores what it considers duplicates, leaving me having to compare number of files before and after an operation to see that everything went through. Perhaps consider using absolute path or some kind of basic metadata check to get around this?

I *am* running an older version. How the hell did this happen? I mean, I’m at the right post right now, and this is the one I navigated to when I first downloaded the application yesterday. I have no idea how I messed up, but I clearly did, and now I’ve wasted a bunch of your time with my foolishness. I’m so sorry! You can disregard the bugs I’ve reported. Even the locale works properly now.

  18. While I love this application, it won’t work on computers with regional settings that don’t follow American standards. In other words, Pornganizer won’t even start on European systems (it crashes silently with a System.FormatException upon calling ParseDouble() in my case). To test this, create a new user and set its region settings to, say, Danish. To fix this problem you’ll have to specify region when reading data, especially when parsing from strings (which you’ll do all the time when reading from XML files and often even from databases). It’s good practice to specify a region both when saving to and loading from files/databases, as applications tend to go for the system default if you don’t. In .Net applications, using the Invariant Culture on saving and loading will fix the problem in most cases. Be extra careful that you don’t mess up existing databases, but this shouldn’t really happen while transitioning from US culture to Invariant.

Let me know if you need any help with this. I’ve dealt with this problem before. 🙂

    Like

    1. can you paste the whole event log?

i do not even call double.parse anywhere in my code. i have a couple double.TryParse, which should not be throwing exceptions, and is already taking into account cultureinfo. when i had this issue reported before, it revolved around bookmarks, bug PG was still able to start.

      1. The stack trace is pretty large and seems to trigger some kind of spam protection on the site. My previous attempt to paste it was never posted, so I’m trying again with a slightly trimmed version in a separate post after this one.

The parsing is probably called by something else (in an UI layout method it seems), but at least something is calling it. I can get the application to start by changing the number formatting on my computer.

In a separate matter, some videos seem to completely hang thumbnail creation in both the application itself (which makes it freeze even upon restarting it) and in Windows. Whenever this happens I have to restart Windows to fix the issue. The application then seems to have forgotten about the problematic video, though I can’t confirm this 100%.

When you select either the “greater than or equals” or the “less than or equals” after expanding search criteria the star rating you select does not show up, the other three rating settings work properly. “Equals” shows only the selected star, “less than” only shows stars fewer than the selected star, and “greater than” only shows stars more than the selected star.
